Murrplastik AG has proven to be a reliable partner for the replacement of control cabinets for traffic lights in Zurich
In collaboration with our customer Bergauer AG, new control cabinets for over 200 traffic lights in Zurich were replaced. Individual cable entries were developed, tested and manufactured at our site in Switzerland.
Individual cable entries in control cabinets for traffic light systems
A collaboration between Bergauer AG and murrplastik
To ensure the safety of pedestrians, the city of Zurich commissioned Bergauer AG to replace the existing 230-volt traffic lights with new 40-volt traffic lights. This conversion affects around 200 traffic lights throughout Zurich. The base plates (KDP) in the associated control cabinets of these traffic light systems therefore had to be replaced. A specially developed cable entry system was used here, which is characterized by its individual and special shape and was developed, tested and manufactured in close cooperation with Bergauer AG at our site in Switzerland.
The focus was on the following requirements:
- Precision
In order to avoid failures in traffic operations, maximum precision was required in the production of the cable entry plates. murrplastik manufactured individually adapted plates with millimetre precision.
- Weatherproof products
The electronics in the control cabinets must not get wet under any circumstances, which is guaranteed by weatherproof cable entry plates that can withstand the demanding environmental conditions.
- Speed
The switch cabinet renewal had to be carried out in the shortest possible time so as not to disrupt ongoing traffic operations.

Thanks to the professional cooperation, the control cabinets were replaced on schedule without disrupting traffic operations.
